Mary Redden Board Candidate

Mary Redden, Ed.D.

CSE Chairperson & Parent

For more than 23 years, Mary has taught in both elementary and secondary classrooms and now serves as a Kโ€“12 CSE Chairperson in the Half Hollow Hills Central School District. That arc, from classroom to central office, gives her a perspective that is rarely represented on a Board of Education. A resident of Cold Spring Harbor since 2012 and parent of a junior and a freshman at Cold Spring Harbor High School, she sees our schools from both a professional and deeply personal perspective. Her doctorate in Transformational Leadership reflects her core belief: real leadership is built through collaboration, listening, and doing the work when it is difficult. She is ready to step into this role with clarity and a steady purpose of healing.

Scott Kaufman Board Candidate

Scott Kaufman

Community Member & Parent

Scott grew up right here in Cold Spring Harbor, attending Kโ€“12 in the district, where he met his wife and loved it so much he came back to raise his family. He is the parent of a first grader at Goosehill and a preschooler, and has served on the Goosehill PTG. After graduating Cold Spring Harbor High School in 2007, Scott attended Brown University (Applied Math & Economics), then built a career helping the world's largest companies navigate complex challenges as a management consultant at McKinsey and now in Partnerships at PayPal. His work centers on building collaboration among stakeholders who don't always agree: careful listening, transparent negotiation, and solutions that create lasting value. He brings those same skills to this race, and to the Board.

Why We're Running

Cold Spring Harbor is a special place. But teacher attrition is real, morale is suffering, and a contract dispute with the Cold Spring Harbor Teacher Association has made our district no longer the clear best place to work. We are running to change that โ€” with the full support of the CSHTA and a commitment to putting students at the center of every decision.

๐Ÿค

Rebuild Trust

Strong schools require real partnership between the Board, educators, and families. We will restore that partnership โ€” starting on day one.

๐Ÿซ

Retain Great Educators

Cold Spring Harbor must again be the best place to teach on Long Island. We will prioritize educator support, reverse attrition, and restore the pride our schools deserve.

๐Ÿ“Š

Fiscal Responsibility

We will invest wisely in students and staff while maintaining the financial health that keeps our district strong for every family.
